TEENAGE racing driver Max Chilton has signed for Hitech Racing, the reigning British Formula 3 title holder, for his second season in the sport.
The 16-year-old, of Norwood Hill, posted the fourth quickest time during the season's first official two day test at Pembrey, Carmarthenshire.
Chilton, the youngest driver on the 2008 grid, clocked 48.273 seconds - comfortably quicker than more experienced F3 drivers in the 23-car session.
His team mates for the 2008 season are 19-year-old Australian Walter Grubmuller and Jonathan Kennard from Tonbridge, Kent.
Max said: "I was happy after the Pembrey test with how things went. We really weren't working much on set up or performance, it was just a shakedown for the cars really, so to end up fourth quickest was a good feeling. There is a lot more to come, so I feel quite confident after the first two days with the new car. I really enjoyed working with the team and my team mates, it is going to be very close between us and I like the competition within the team."
Walter Grubmuller was third in practice with a lap time of 48.257 seconds while Jonathan Kennard was eleventh with 48.671 seconds.
