Outwood Butcher's Shop in Outwood, has come close to winning a “Rural Oscar.”
The shop in Brickfield Road has been commended by judges in the butcher category of the South-east heat of this year's Countryside Alliance Awards.
The awards – known as the Rural Oscars, run across ten regions and running for the last seven years - celebrate the characters, skills, traditions and enterprise of the countryside through the people who work in it, and are public-nomination led.
The grand final is held at the Houses of Parliament in March, when the over-all UK and Irish champions are announced.
