Police are appealing for help after a 16-year-old boy was found in a Reigate car park with serious injuries to his face.

The teenager was found in the car park of Homebase.

Emergency services were called and he was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill where he later underwent surgery.

Detectives are appealing for information on the attack which happened during the evening of Thursday, August 26.

A police spokesman said: “It is believed sometime between 7.30pm and 8pm the victim got into a Vauxhall Corsa at Banstead Railway Station and was driven to the Cotmandene area of Dorking.

“Here, it is believed he got out of the car and enquiries are continuing to establish how and when he received the injuries, and also the circumstances surrounding how he came to be in the car park in Reigate.”

Investigating officer Det Con Dion O'Shea said: "It is vital we build up a clear picture of what happened that evening.

“At some stage the victim received serious facial injuries and we need to find out how, where and why they occurred.”

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the victim either in a car with two people, or walking on his own.

Det Con O'Shea said: "We have been able to place the victim at certain locations during the evening, several of which are close to train stations, so I am appealing to commuters travelling home from work to think back.

“Did you see anything which you believe could help our investigation? Your information, however small, could prove important."

Anyone with information should call DC O'Shea at Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222, quoting reference number MV/10/3735, or call Crimstoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
