An arsonist started a fire in a hedgerow in Copthorne in the early hours of yesterday, destroying nearly half of it.
The fire in the hedge off Copthorne Common Road was reported soon after 1.45am.
It destroyed about 40% of the approximately 70-metre-long hedgerow.
Crawley firefighters used a hose reel and an extinguisher to put the flames out.
