A new support group offering help and advice to local men diagnosed with prostate cancer will hold its first meeting this month.
The Urology Nurse Team from Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, have joined forces with The Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre in Crawley, to set up the group with the backing of Prostate Cancer UK. The health specialists who work at East Surrey and Crawley Hospitals hope to support people diagnosed with prostate cancer, as well as their partners, who are also welcome to attend the group's meetings.
The meetings will give people the chance to meet others who are going through a similar experience and have similar concerns.
The group will meet at The Olive Tree at Crawley Hospital on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
The first meeting will take place on Thursday, January 23.
It will include a talk given by Dave Brice, the K2 Gym Active Life coordinator, on the benefits of exercise and cancer.
