Reigate and Banstead borough's deputy mayor Alexander Horwood got himself a slice of the fundraising action across East Surrey last week.
For Coun Horwood tucked into a piece of cake served up at Reigate Community Centre as part of Macmillan Cancer Support's annual fundraising event, the World's Biggest Coffee Morning.
The event was organised by Anne Miller, a resident within Coun Horwood's Horley West ward, and was her 21st coffee morning.
Coun Horwood said: “I am very honoured to be asked here today.
“I have a personal connection with Macmillan from when my dad died four years ago from colon cancer. “Macmillan stepped in and were absolutely brilliant - not just for my dad but for the rest of the family.”
He said: “Coffee mornings like this are not just about raising money, but raising awareness of what they do.”
Around 90 people tucked into coffee and cake, raising £450 and taking Anne’s total coffee morning fundraising for Macmillan over the past 21 years to just under £4,000.
