Horley Local History Centre will hold its annual general meeting in Horley Library in Victoria Road, Horley, on Wednesday, March 21, at 7pm.

The meeting will be followed by a talk entitled the History from 1904 of Garages in Horley for the Maintenance of Cars.

On Thursday, March 22, Horley Local History Society will host a talk by Mike Peters on the history of the charity Oxfam in the town in the Strawson Hall at 156 Albert Road, Horley, at 7.30pm.

Mr Peters was one of the original members of the group of Horley volunteers working to promote the aims of Oxfam in the town more than 45 years ago.

However, the first 30 minutes of the meeting will be taken by Pete Crawford of Gatwick Greenspace Partnership, who will talk about possible future uses of the land to the north of The Acres - the new development beyond Langshott - and ask questions and hear people's views on the subject.

The society will host a talk given by Peter Durrant on the History and Humour of Fleet Street at its meeting on Thursday, April 26.
