Acorn Court care home in Redhill, which is part of Carebase, a group of private care homes in the South-east and East Anglia specialising in nursing, residential and dementia care, is taking part in this year's National Care Home Open Day.

The care home, which took part last year in the first ever National Care Home Open Day, will be opening its doors to the local community tomorrow (Friday, June 20) from 10am to 4pm.

Aiming to do something a little different, Acorn Court will be hosting a dog show, kicking off in the morning with dogs from the local Nightingale Dogs group, including a chocolate poodle called Boo, Dennis the springer spaniel, Xavi the Maltese, and Leafy the Shih Tzu.

25juneacornweb Performances will start at 11am with acts including the squirrel chase, canine countdown, the bean bag relay, a diva fashion show, bumble boo and indoor mini-agility.

There will also be complimentary drinks and snacks for visitors.

The Open Day is free to attend and is aimed at giving local residents the chance to see Acorn Court and get free advice on living in a care home.

National Care Home Open Day is run to showcase the work of and role that care homes play in the community, and to welcome the public to events and activities that will help to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities.
