MP Since - 2010 Majority - 16,874 Born - 10/08/1976 (born Ghana). Divorced.
Education - Achimota Secondary School, Ghana, and Freman College, Hertfordshire. Somerville College, Oxford (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) (1995-99) (elected President of the Oxford Union in 1997).

Previous Occupation - Worked for Goldman Sachs (Mergers and Acquisitions and Equities Divisions). Developed several small businesses in the training, employment and internet sectors, including Chief Executive of Workology.com (2006-10).

Personal Overview - Elected at the first attempt to this safe Conservative seat in 2010, replacing outgoing MP Peter Ainsworth. Has had a successful business career, initially at Goldman Sachs, where he worked on the £100 billion merger of Glaxo Welcome and Smithkline Beecham. He then set up his own business enterprises, his first business eventually grew to employ 70 staff with a turnover of £10 million in three years. In 2005 he was voted CBI Entrepreneur of the Future, setting up Workology.com in 2006. Despite not having any experience of elected office prior to entering Parliament, his political experience includes having been Chairman of the centre-right Bow Group Think Tank (2007) where he edited the Publication of ‘From the Ashes’ on the future of the Conservative Party. He has also been a local Conservative Association Officer. Became PPS to the Prime Minister David Cameron at the 2012 reshuffle, potentially a useful springboard for his future parliamentary career.

Political History - MP East Surrey (2010-). Member of the International Development Select Committee (2011-12). Parliamentary Private Secretary to to Rt. Hon. David Cameron as Prime Minister (2012-).

Characteristics - Ran the London Marathon (2008). Has been a School Governor of an Inner London School, a Board member of a Housing Association, Board member of NACRO (Crime Reduction Charity) and a member of the Development Board of Somerville College. Has been a volunteer and fundraiser for Crisis and Down Syndrome Association. Is a supporter of St Catherine's Hospice Supports Arsenal FC.

Previous Occupation - Worked in sales (1972-1980). Self-employed/Co-Director of a local business (1980-1999). Regional Liaison Officer for Caroline Lucas MEP (2002-2007).

Personal Overview - Replaced the outgoing Caroline Lucas here in June 2010 after she was successful in her bid to become the Green party's first MP at Westminster. He is an experienced Councillor, having led the Green Group in Brighton for a number of years. He has also shown an interest in foreign affairs issues, as a Councillor was active in campaigning to secure the release of Brighton resident Omar Degayes from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. He has also been involved in High Court action supporting families with Autistic children. Within the party, he has been a spokesperson on planning and regeneration as well as a Principal Speaker at the time when the party had not adopted a single leader. He has also been involved in policy development with the party election manifesto. Locally, he he is likely to have gained a good knowledge of his electoral region through his work for his predecessor.

Other Information - Has been a Vice President of the UK’s Local Government Association Group in the European Parliament. Former representative for Brighton and Hove on the UN Peace Messenger City project and a City representative to the Local Government Association.
