A man was shot outside a pub as football fans celebrated just yards away, police said yesterday.
The 24-year-old victim was shot in the arm behind the Clermiston Inn in the Corstorphine area of Edinburgh.
The man was having a cigarette at the back entrance to the pub's function hall at around 11.30pm on Sunday when the gunman struck, Lothian and Borders Police said.
He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and was treated for his injury, which is not life-threatening.
A number of supporters had visited the pub in Rannoch Road after arriving back from the game on chartered buses.
It is believed the victim had been with a friend celebrating the team's 5-1 win over Kilmarnock.
The pub's function room was busy with fans celebrating Hibs winning the CIS cup at the time of the shooting, and police want to speak to anyone who returned to Corstorphine from Hampden and attended the function.
They are treating the shooting as attempted murder and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the masked gunman to come forward.
