Fylde lost their fifth away game in succession to a more ambitious side.

Although Fylde went into half time with a lead of 16-12 thanks to a try from prop Sam Simpson and three penalties and a conversion from John Armstrong, it was not enough as they had to play into the teeth of the gale in the second period.

Morley played a fast, loose game and scored a good try on 63 minutes.

It was pretty much one way traffic as Fylde were pegged back with long kicks. They scored a try on 55 minutes, converted to established a 22-16 lead.

Fylde battled back into the Morley half but wrong options allowed Morley to reassert their territorial dominance. Fylde try scorer Simpson limped off with an ankle injury to be replaced by debutant Jonny Wilde.

An amazing tackle by Daniel Fluker prevented another try but Morley did score their fourth on 66 minutes, which was duly converted. A further penalty sealed another disappointing Fylde away performance.

They had supremacy in the tight exchanges, often making the Morley scrummage retreat.

But somehow number eight Hopton always managed to hold the ball up well and link with his skipper and ex-England number nine, Scott Benton.

In the loose, Morley were more dynamic and many of their players beat the rather weak first up tackling of the visitors, or simply skipped around them.
