DESERVING citizens are being offered a treat to reward the good work they've done for their community.
Earlier this month Lostock Parish Council named Lindsey McPhillips, from First Lostock Cub Scouts, as the winner of its first good citizen award. But now Lindsey and the four nominees shortlisted - Liz Wood, Derek Washburn, Jackie Foster and George Mather - have been invited to enjoy a complimentary cuppa and cake at The Village Store in Wincham.
Clr Shaun Wells, chairman of Lostock Parish Council, said: "The owners have very kindly offered to lay on a free brew and cake after they heard about the awards which is a lovely gesture."
Sharna Connor, who runs the village store and is the latest addition to Wincham Parish Council, said: "When Shaun told me about the awards a while ago I thought it was so lovely to hear something so positive that I made the offer.
"It almost seems a shame that there could only be one winner so this way they're all getting a bit of a treat as well as the recognition."
