Cirencester Town 0 Yate Town 0

FRESH from their first home win of the season, Ciren had a spring in their step as they faced local rivals, Yate.

The score-line probably did not reflect the effort put in by the Centurions but their strikers did not seem to have their scoring boots on.

Still, it is another point in the bag.

Mike Symons opened the game with an early shot on goal but neither side really took control of the first half. Yate were prepared to muscle their way in on the tackles and Chenoweth consequently got a yellow, 17 minutes in, for a foul on Symons.

Although possession raced from end to end, Kev Sawyer was never troubled, with shots from Woods racing high above the bar or wide.

Sadly, at the other end, it was much the same, with plenty of free kicks being won and wasted.

After the break, Symons and Lee Smith linked up well to play the ball forward but McSherry's persistence failed to make the breakthrough.

He came off, after 15 minutes, for Griffin who once more failed to make any impact.

Ciren controlled the game for most of the second half, with Lee Smith terrorising on the wing and playing ball after ball into the box.

With a team pretty much unchanged from the win, the home crowd expected big things from the Centurions.

Griffin could have silenced them a couple of times but never seemed to reach the ball.

Jones was carded, late on, for a stupid pull on the Yate captain as Cirens opponents tried their hardest to get back into the game.

A few shots went Sawyer's way but either carried on towards Kingshill or rested safely in his gloves.

Late chances were just that and both sides walked away with a point.

Now, with a run of home matches complete, the Centurions have it all to do away from home.

Manager Neil Hards said the draw was a fair result. He said: "We were in ascendance in the second half. We created lots of chances and carried on working ever so hard for the first 30 minutes.

"I'm pleased with the way we have worked together again."
