LEWIS Dodd returns to Saints' 21-man squad for Saturday's away match against Hull KR (3pm) for Round 10 of Betfred Super League.

But wing Tommy Makinson is missing for the league leaders, who are currently at the top of the league standings with Catalans Dragons sat in second level on points.

Hull KR are fifth and bounce into this fixture of the back of a big win over Wigan last week.

Wellens makes two changes to the team that got that win over the Giants with  Makinson and Sam Royle stepping out of the squad.

Dodd and Jake Wingfield are both back in contention for selection following injuries.

Why St Helens' Tommy Makinson will miss Hull KR trip

Wellens said: “Hull KR are obviously playing well, and they are very competitive.

“Willie Peters has done a really good job there and it is going to be a huge challenge.

“It’s always a tough place to go as well.

“It is an opportunity for us to go there and perform well against the team that are in form at the moment.

“They are a challenging team and they obviously showed that at the weekend against what is a top quality side in Wigan.”
