FARMERS are being urged to put a stop to controlled burns to prevent putting extra pressure on the emergency services.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is appealing to landowners to refrain from any burning of heather, grass bracken and gorse on their land for the remainder of the season, as resources are stretched during the Coronavirus pandemic.
While the Heather and Grass Burning Code states that burning is allowed only between the November 1 and March 15, the season runs from October 1 and until March 31 in upland areas.
A spokesperson for fire said: "Whilst we understand that we are in a burn period, we would urge farmers and landowners to avoid carrying out controlled burning this year to help us reduce demand and stay safe."
