A Cross Hills-based group is one of two organisations in Craven that have secured grant funding for their faith work in schools.
South Craven Community Action is to receive £26,000 from the Faith Communities Capacity Building Fund. The other organisation to benefit from the fund, to the tune of £10,000, is Skipton Islamic Society.
Milton Pearson, chief executive officer with South Craven Community Action, said: "This is quite a coup for Craven."
He added its money would be used to provide volunteer workers, from a whole range of backgrounds, to go into schools and talk about their faiths. Mr Pearson said: "The funds will also help us to continue to develop an inter-faith resources pack and associated training package.
"It has been devised by students representing all major faiths with support from a project team. As with all our work, this project will help to build bridges between people of different faith backgrounds and reduce levels of prejudice, suspicion, fear and ignorance in an area which has limited previous experience of cultural diversity, a growing migrant work force and multi-faith population."
