Omar Daley is favourite to replace the banned Joe Colbeck for City's must-win trip to Brighton on Saturday.

The Jamaican, above, on the bench for the last two games, is in line for a recall in the right-wing role that he prefers.

Fans have been calling for City to get Ben Muirhead back from his loan spell with Rochdale. David Wetherall is considering doing that but has hinted that Daley will get the nod at the Withdean Stadium whatever he decides.

Wetherall said: "Bringing back Ben is a distinct possibility. We've been keeping tabs on how he's been doing and have received regular reports.

"We're going to have a chat about our options over the next day but obviously Omar certainly comes into contention as well."

Muirhead has played 12 games in League Two, scoring three goals, and Rochdale's home loss to Barnet on Monday was only the second time when he has finished on the losing side.

Colbeck's red card against Oldham cost City dear as they were pegged back by a late equaliser to remain rooted in the League One drop zone.

The teenager, who has been fined by the club, has come in for heavy criticism since but Wetherall insisted he should not be made a scapegoat.

"I don't want everybody to just point the finger at Joe," he added. "He is feeling bad enough as it is without being made out to be the fall guy.

"We are in it together and everybody will make mistakes and has made mistakes.

"Monday was another game where we should have had more points on the board and we deserved better.

"I would love to be going into the Leyton Orient game a week on Saturday thinking that a win will see us overtake them. Oldham should have been a step in that direction.

"But we cannot deal with ifs and buts. The gap needs to be closed and we've not got much time to do it but four more performances like Monday will give us a real chance."

Meanwhile, City are repeating their 1p coach offer for travel members going to the Brighton game.

Secretary Jon Pollard said: "This is another crucial game for us and we need as much vocal backing as possible.

"Those who travelled to Bournemouth were brilliant and their behaviour was excellent, as we expect."

As with last week, members must buy match tickets at the same time as the travel booking is made.

Tickets for the Withdean Stadium are £22.50 for adults, £16 students, £14.50 senior citizens and £13 youngsters. Under-tens accompanied by an adult cost £1.

Supporters making their own way to Brighton are warned that tickets are not sold on the day at the ground.
