Bromsgrove 31 Lichfield 36
Midlands Divison Two West

BROMSGROVE produced an entertaining performance to complete their home fixtures in the Midlands Division One in style at Finstall Park on Saturday.

Despite defeat the Boars contributed to match packed with tries and scoring chances as they pushed mid-table Lichfield all the way.

With blustery conditions both sides struggled to impose themselves but the visitors broke the deadlock when their scrum half David Butler grabbed a converted try.

But the Boars bounced back and powered into a 14-5 lead thanks to tries for J Ward and A Macintosh, both of which saw their efforts converted by Kent Summerfield.

Bromsgrove continued to pile the pressure on Lichfield but the visitors hit back when Sam Baker grabbed a converted touch down.

The home side were stunned as Lichfield scored a third try and a penalty but Graham Gadd's touch down ensured that Bromsgrove went into half time trailing just 22-19.

Winger Richard Stockholm put his side in the lead when he grabbed a try, which Summerfield kicked over, but Lichfield edged ahead 29-26 with another try.

Stockholm grabbed a second try to restore the Boars' lead as a frenetic match went from end-to-end as both sides searched for the points.

But Bromsgrove were denied a deserved victory when winger Matt Brown touched down.
