A national retailer has labelled Coulsdon as a "declining location" after pulling the plug on its store there.
Stead and Simpson's shop in Brighton Road is due to close on Saturday.
The chain's head office admitted they felt it was not worth keeping the shop open.
Jonathan Smith, Stead and Simpson property director, said: "The lease is coming to an end and due to a reduction in sales in the last 12 months we are unable to justify paying the increase and stay there. It is a declining location."
All six staff have been made redundant from the shop that has occupied the lease for the past 11 years.
