SIR - I was interested to read the letter from Helen O'Neill, Chris Leslie's neighbour, regarding the respective achievements of Chris Leslie and Philip Davies (T&A, March 12).
She claims Philip Davies didn't keep Shipley Police Station open, which is true, but even the police blamed that on the £15 million shortfall in funding they receive from the Labour Government, hardly the fault of Mr Davies.
She also claims he didn't keep Bingley Post Office open but he did help to ensure a temporary post office is there until a long-term solution can be found despite the Labour Government closing post offices across the country.
As for Saltaire roundabout, whereas Mr Leslie claimed the Relief Road had not caused any more congestion, according to the T&A Mr Davies met with the Transport Minister and persuaded him to give the Council the £1.3 million they said they wanted to make some improvements there.
It is a shame people like Ms O'Neill do not look at the facts. I can tell her that I prefer to have a straight-talking constituency-focused MP like Philip Davies, who speaks his mind and stands up to his whips, rather than a career-focussed yes-man like Chris Leslie.
