A CAFE owner is giving something back to his loyal customers with the introduction of a free-to-use cashpoint.
Rowland Harris, of Tony's Cafe and Pizzeria, Risca Road, Crosskeys, has introduced a cashpoint facility at his cafe because he does not believe people should have to pay to take their money out. There are no other free cashpoint machines in the town.
"Some cash machines charge as much at £2.50 to take money out," said Mr Harris.
"That's not fair, especially if you only want to take £10 out. I have a lot of customers who are students and they can't afford to be paying those kinds of prices.
"So I applied to get one of these machines."
The machine cost £162 to install and £14 per month to maintain but Mr Harris says it's his way of giving something back to the community.
"I don't mind paying that, it was my decision. It's a great idea and I want to encourage it."
