TREAT your girlfriend to some nice new underwear this weekend - and help us raise more vital funds for our Guardian Angels appeal.

Leia lingerie shop, in Spurriergate, York, is holding a fundraising drive for our appeal, by donating a pound from every sale it makes tomorrow and Sunday.

The shop stocks a wide range of lingerie, swimwear and nightwear and hopes to attract plenty of customers to help us raise more funds.

Claire Brant, the shop's marketing manager, said staff had been particularly keen to raise money for our appeal because several had had children in York's special care baby unit in the past.

Now they are hoping to give something back to the hospital which cared for their own youngsters by supporting Guardian Angels.

Claire said: "Although we get involved with some of the larger charities like Cancer Research UK, it's nice to get involved in local ones that are part of the community. This could well affect some of our customers. It's nice to give something back."

Our Guardian Angels appeal is raising £300,000 for a new high-dependency unit at York Hospital children's ward.
