LAST year, the guild celebrated its 59th birthday with a hot supper.

This year for the diamond anniversary, members will have a celebratory lunch.

At the Christmas meeting, members were entertained by the Beckenham Ladies Choir.

They presented a delightful programme of carols and songs from the shows and then joined members for tea and mince pies.

Neil Lloyd gave a talk on Harry Lime, which was accompanied by slides and music.

He showed stills from the film The Third Man with the theme music, which was followed by pictures of the making of the film and the various locations in Vienna.

Then there was a tour of the city and its cemeteries with their many memorials to famous composers.

Mr Lloyd showed photos of the elegant buildings and their fabulous interior decorations.

Members also enjoyed the annual lunch at the Bromley Court Hotel.

The guild meets at 7.30pm on the third Wednesday of every month at the Memorial Room at Penge Congregational Church.

New members are welcome.
