COMIC Steve Williams enjoys a laugh with another funny man - the winner of our joke competition.

Jamie Welsh, of Bettws, is looking forward to see Steve perform at his first solo show in his home city of Newport next month after winning two tickets for the gig at the Riverfront on May 12.

Steve chose Jamie's ribtickler (below) out of an impressive selection of jokes entered into our competition and the two met up at the theatre earlier this week.

THE WINNING GAG:
Pat and Mike were contracting over Llanwern steelworks.

After a night on the razzle they were walking home drunk and skint and wondering how to get back to their digs in Duckpool Road.

As they passed the bus depot on Corpor Road and saw all the buses parked up for the night, Pat had an inspired idea. He said to Mike: "Tell you what, I'll nip in here and pinch one of these buses."

"Good thinking," said Mike. "I'll stay here and keep lookout."

As he stood waiting outside, he could hear all sorts of crashing, banging and glass breaking from inside the garage then out came a bus, all scraped and bashed with Pat sat triumphantly behind the wheel. "Sorry about all the racket," he said to Mike. "But the Maindee bus was right at the back."
