Gloucestershire County League Wotton Rovers 1 Berkeley Town 1.
BERKELEY TOWN edged closer to County League safety at the weekend and at the same time left Wotton Rovers deep in trouble.
With a big crowd giving their backing to both sides, the home side started the better and should have gone into the lead.
However, chance after chance went begging for Wotton and instead it was the visitors that took the lead.
Just five minutes remained before the break when in-form Tom Waldron pounced on a defensive mix-up to put Berkeley in front.
Wotton continued to press in the second half and were finally rewarded for their persistence 18 minutes from time when Kier Cox netted.
The hosts continued to pile forwards as full-time approached but Town kept things tight and hung on for a point.
Both sides competed well throughout but the game was soured somewhat by the referee's decision to book seven players in the final 25 minutes.
Town now look like they have done enough to get out of the relegation dogfight but Wotton have much work still to do.
