Worship: What really matters

I CANNOT agree with Marcia Stretch's assertion that the proposed changes to the seating at St Bartholomew's in Horley will adversely affect it as a place of worship (Letters, March 26).

One of the most alluring aspects of holidaying abroad is the streets and promenades packed with dozens of cafes, tavernas and restaurants. It is these drinking and eating places which draw people and give a healthy buzz to a town centre. Local planners are not listening to the Horley public.

Further to your story on cuts to the train service from Redhill to Tonbridge (Life, February 13), what I would like to know is how the spokesman for the Department for Transport expects rail users in Nutfield to get to Redhill!
