Horley kept in check
Horley 169
Guildford City 170-8
Horley were much indebted to Harry Chaudhary for a well-constructed 72 as the hosts were inserted at Horley Row. Lewis Tomkins, Phil Norman and Trevor Stevens each scored 20 against spinners Munir 5-59 and Ali 3-42.
Sadly no other batsmen were able to muster double figures as Horley were, Chaudhary apart, kept in check in their 52-over allocation.
The Guildford City reply saw Mohammed open up with 36 and Munir at No 3 (33) maintained a steady start.
Horley through Trevor Stevens and Harry Chaudhary then took a further six wickets to have their opponents reeling at 97-7.
A match winning partnership then ensued with Jan 35 not out and Ali Ashraf (clearly not a number nine) making a stylish 34.
This pair added 65 runs in quick time and other than the demise of the latter, brilliantly caught in the deep by Phil Norman, the visitors, courtesy of at least six dropped catches, ran out winners by two wickets with ten minutes to spare.
Whiteley Village 123-9dec
Horley 125-2
Back to back victories have allayed any early season relegation fears as Horley cruised to an eight-wicket success.
Martin Woollcott (2-24), Abdul Razzaq (3-13) and Deepal Ahangama (4-22) took the wickets to fall in the hosts' innings. Connolly, Mebs and skipper Best were the major contributors for Whiteley Village as they were constantly to lose wickets.
With a minimum of 49 overs at Horley's disposal they lost the luckless Paul Kirkham for two. Fizal Nadir joined Jonathan Dibble, and in a century partnership they almost saw Horley home.
Dibble fell one short of a 50 but Lewis Forsdick (2 not out) supported Nadir to 52 not out and a victory margin.
Horley 149-5
RLCC 149-2
In a late conference fixture a hastily arranged 40-over game ensued where the hosts batted first.
With several regulars unavailable Horley were only able to field four seniors for this fixture.
However, youth played a significant part in a match drawn with the scores level.
Skipper Phil Norman made 80 not out in an innings total of 149 that contained an encouraging knock of 32 by keeper George Hyde. Angus Kirk made 16 and Matt Perrow 10 not out also aided Horley's total.
Unfortunately Horley were only to take two RLCC wickets as Montgomery (56) and Calder (54) got the visitors off to a perfect start.
Francis 15 and Wightman 6 were left undefeated at stumps as Norman and Trevor Stevens took the wickets as Horley used nine bowlers in reply.
Horley 86
Salfords 87-7
Horley lost to neighbours Salfords with the match being decided on the final ball. Horley failed to get going on the common as wickets fell at regular intervals, as Hockey, Lee, Rodgers and Woollcott were the only batsmen to get into double figures.
Jones the major wicket taker for Salfords with 3-25 as Connolly, Bell and Bautel each bagged a brace.
The hosts also struggled to score with any real consistency as Tarrant, Lambert, Patel and Betsey posted scores in the teens.
Matt Lee and Alex Elmer both took two wickets and Rodgers and Woollcott one as the hosts plundered their victory target taking 38 overs to reach 87-7.
