AFC Guildford 2
Merstham 1

Merstham's first encounter with AFC Guildford this season turned sour when another good performance, and lead, was lost resulting in the Mick Sullivan's side dropping yet another place in the Premier League table.

Merstham dominated the flow of the game with former Guildford player Micky Nolan and his strike partner Rhod Davies looking dangerous up front.

Guildford's first real opportunity came in the 33rd minute when a corner was curled in and cleared off the line by Scott Sullivan.

Luke Roberts and Sullivan then had attacks on the host's defence but the sides went in goalless at half-time.

Merstham started the second half well and were rewarded for the pressure. Good build-up play found Roberts in space and he fired shot from distance into the top right-hand corner of the net.

The hosts responded and substitute Lydon netted the equaliser in the 80th minute.

Guildford sealed their victory in the closing minutes.

Top scorer James Blason hit a long-range shot which Merstham keeper Peter Lang could not keep out.

Chipstead 1
Merstham 0

Merstham lost to their bogey side yet again in this disappointing Bank Holiday derby at Chipstead.

The visitors' efforts to finish in the top-half of the table took a knock three minutes into the game. Chipstead's Kwab Agyeni opened the scoring.

The poor start shook Merstham and a solid and alert Chipstead dealt with the visitor's efforts till the break.

Merstham started the second half more positively and went close to equalising through long-range shots from Craig Vernon and Luke Roberts.

But as the match progressed, Merstham's aggressive performance seemed to fizzle out and Chipstead held on for victory.
