Pupils at The Hawthorns School, Bletchingley, were able to get their hands on real moon rocks recently.

All the pupils from Year Two up to Year Eight were able to study the rocks collected from the moon by the NASA Apollo space missions in the 1960s and 1970s with microscopes.

Some of the samples dated back more than 4,000 million years.

The children also handled meteorites collected from around the world, including several from the deserts of Australia, as part of a series of activities on the topic of space.

Older pupils enjoyed a visit from an inflatable planetarium.
