Pupils at Oakwood School in Horley celebrated culture, religion, race and diversity in a special week of events.
Curricular studies were given a multicultural theme as staff and students increased their understanding of the wider world.
Events held included a game of Dara - a game originating from Nigeria - in the maths department, a visit to the English department by poets Francis Jessop and Sylvie Coulthard, and the school's first ever Multicultural Exhibition, which included food demonstrations from the Let’s Get Cooking Club, displays on cultural exchanges mounted by the 1st and 2nd Horley Scouts and local guide groups, and music from the Oakwood Steel Band.
The week also raised money for the charity UNICEF with a multicultural cake sale held, in which students and staff donated cakes associated with their cultural background.
