Royal Alexandra and Albert School, Reigate

THREE pupils at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School in Reigate have been given the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Award for their outstanding contribution to the school community.

Sixth-formers Joss Halford, Luke Todd and Dileepa Bennett were nominated for improving the lives of others.

They did this by helping younger pupils achieve Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

They also used the skills they had learned as members of the School's Army Cadet Force to help fellow pupils on expeditions.

The Diana Award recognises the selfless and positive contributions made by tens of thousands of young people to their schools, communities, families or friends.

Young people aged 12 to 18 can be nominated by their school. They must inspire others by participating in youth work or volunteering, improving the lives of others or demonstrating outstanding qualities in overcoming adversity.

PUPILS from the school were among those who received bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards from Reigate and Banstead mayor Dorothy Ross-Tomlin at a presentation.

To demonstrate their achievements pupils performed at the presentation ceremony a dance routine they had worked on as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
