Police probe shop blaze
A FIRE in a bridal shop in Bletchingley is being treated as suspicious.
Fire broke out at Aphrodite Brides in the High Street yesterday between 4pm and 5pm when rising smoke alerted residents in the flat above.
Police and firefighters were called to the scene and detectives from Caterham CID are investigating the cause.
Senior investigating officer Det Insp Juliet Parker said: "We are working with our colleagues at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service to try to find out how this fire started and, if necessary, who was responsible.
"Thankfully the occupants of the flat above the shop were not harmed and quickly alerted the emergency services to the fire."
Police are appealing for witnesses to call 0845 125 2222.
