A NEW environmental survey could be done at a housing development to look for badgers.
Reigate and Banstead Borough Council has asked developers building 600 houses in north east Horley to update a three-year-old environmental assessment on the advice of a badger expert.
Ray Ings, chairman of East Surrey Badger Protection Society, had a look at the fields by Burstow Stream. He said: "I did spot at least one path, which in my view is highly likely to have been made by badgers."
Mr Ings believes the chestnut paling fencing put up around the development site does not pose a hazard to badgers but is asking developers to take them into account.
