Police renew Horley sex attack appeal

Detectives have renewed their appeal for help to find a hooded sex attacker who indecently assaulted a 16-year-old girl in Horley.
The officers repeated their call for help on the one-month anniversary of the incident taking place.
The attacker struck in Smallfield Road as the girl was walking alone on Wednesday, January 4, at 7.15pm.
Described as a tall and skinny man wearing a black hooded jacket with the hood up, the assailant approached the girl from behind and then touched her indecently.
He did not speak to his victim, and police said she was not hurt during the assault, but investigating officer Detective Constable Lewis Flanaghan of Reigate CID said the teenager was left “shaken.”
Det Con Flanaghan said: “This was a frightening attack on a lone girl and although she was not physically hurt during the ordeal, she has been left understandably shaken.”
Speaking last week, Det Con Flanaghan, said: “I am appealing to the community and asking anyone who may have suspicions about a family member, friend or work colleague, who has been acting suspiciously in the past month since the incident took place, to get in touch.”
He said: “Maybe they have been uneasy seeing media coverage of the incident, avoid going to the area where the assault took place, or have stopped wearing clothes which may have been connected with the incident.
“I would also like to appeal to the offender himself, and ask him to come forward, so the right action can be taken, and we can appropriately address the issue now.”
The suspect was further described as being about 6ft tall and wearing a black waist-length hooded jacket with the hood up, and dark coloured trousers.
The assault took place close to the junction of Smallfield Road with Balcombe Road.
