Former Redhill resident turned novelist Pauline Barclay is one of just 30 new authors who have been invited to join a new breed of writers' website.

Pauline, who used to live with her husband Clive in Cotland Acres, Meadvale, and is now living in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, has joined the web-based group, loveahappyending.com Pauline, who has just had her third book, Sometimes It Happens…, published, is one of the band of authors invited to showcase their writing on the website.

Pauline said loveahappyending.com is different in that it encourages readers, nationally and internationally, to become what it calls Associate Readers.

These readers link themselves with the invited authors and together work to promote their publications through networking and social media.

Pauline said she already has five Associates Readers, including one from Canada.

She said: “I was honoured to be asked to join loveahappyending.com.

“Like every new writer, creating awareness to the widest audience is very important.

“In the short time since loveahappyending.com went live, so much has happened and the visibility of all the authors invited has increased dramatically.

“This has been down to networking with all of the Associate Readers.”

Pauline, who was a member of the Redhill and Reigate Artistic Roller Skating Club, and in her former job worked in the offices of the oil company Fina, took up writing after she finished studying for an Open University degree in 1992.

She is now in touch with the Readers Group from Cotland Acres.

She said: “The publishing world experiences many changes.

“Authors must also expect to be involved in much of the marketing of their books.”

She added: “loveahappyending.com is helping new authors like myself to promote even further, and through this, I have seen several new five-star reviews on Amazon for all my books.”
