Reigate company awarded charity's champion accolade

A Reigate-based company has been awarded the prestigious National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) Champions Award after raising more than £50,000 for the charity last year.

The award, which is one of several bestowed by the NSPCC as part of its Supporter Recognition Scheme, was presented to Max Webb, managing director at Rugbytots.

He was presented with the award by Simon Clark of chartered accountants Kingston Smith LLP, a key member of the NSPCC's Gatwick Diamond Business Board.

Mr Clark said: "We are extremely grateful to Rugbytots for their support which is helping to spotlight the work of the NSPCC in the Gatwick Diamond area, and to raise funds to help children.”

Mr Clark said: “The money could, for example, help the NSPCC's ChildLine service answer 12,500 calls from children in need of help and advice. “We rely heavily on the backing of our corporate partners to help fund vital child protection services.”

He said: “Businesses can have a huge impact within the heart of their community, and by supporting the NSPCC, they can help raise their company profile, motivate staff, and make a real difference to those children in need."

Mr Webb said: "I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the staff and parents who took part in our London to Paris cycle ride.”

He said: “Everyone made a huge effort to secure sponsorship and we had a fantastic time in the process. “We are also raising funds through our membership sign-up scheme and will be getting involved with other activities in the future. "

Rugbytots, based in Bell Street, is the first company of its kind, providing a specifically designed play programme using the multiple skills of rugby to create a fun and enjoyable environment, whilst developing basic core motor skills.
