Recession-battling businesses in the neighbouring Tandridge District Council area have been given a boost with free Saturday parking.
The district council has announced it is supporting local businesses by offering free parking on Saturdays in key shopping areas.
The council said that from Saturday, December 12, shoppers in the area will be able to park for free, for as long as they like, every Saturday in a number of the council's car parks.
The car parks are those in Town End, Caterham, Gun Pit Road, Lingfield, Ellice Road, Oxted, Johnsdale, Oxted, the Council Offices, Oxted, and Warlingham Green Shoppers, Limpsfield Road, Warlingham.
Tony Elias, chairman of Tandridge District Council's community services committee, said: "We hope offering free car parking on Saturday will encourage people to shop locally and boost local trade."
