Police are appealing for witnesses after two separate collisions involving charity fundraising cyclists in Reigate and Outwood on Sunday (June 15).

In the first, a man who was taking part in the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Bike Ride, suffered life-threatening injuries after he collided with a telegraph pole in Rocky Lane, Reigate, at about 7.25am.

The man, who is aged in his 30s and from London, was taken by road to St George's Hospital in Tooting, where he was in a serious condition as Life went to press.

Later, at about 10am, a female cyclist, who was also taking part in the event, had to be airlifted to St George's Hospital following a collision in Rookery Hill, Outwood.

The woman, aged in her 30s, suffered injuries to her head and eye.

Her condition was described as stable as Life went to press.
