Students at Dunottar School in Reigate took to their heels recently to help raise money for a charity they had chosen to support.

The Year 10 pupils took part in a sponsored fun run among activities they held to raise money for the cause, Tommy's.

The charity funds research into pregnancy problems and provides information to parents.

The cause was proposed to her fellow pupils by 15-year-old Ellie Corbett, who said: “I’ve heard of Tommy’s before and I believe that it’s a really good cause.”

And along with money raised through sponsored nail painting and cake sales, the pupils raised £618 for the charity.

Citing the threat of closure which the school was under until recently, Dunottar School form tutor Sonia Sagar, said: “When our fundraising events took place, there was a lot of uncertainty about the future of Dunottar.

“Despite this, they pulled together and raised an impressive amount for such an important charity. I’m very proud of them.”
