A thin strip of land in residential Horley is back on the market after failing to sell at auction.

The freehold site, next to 80 to 86 Oakwood Road, went to auction in Brighton earlier this month with a guide price set at £250-plus, reflecting its curved and narrow boomerang shape.

One of 29 lots on the block going under the hammer through land and property auctioneers Clive Emson at The Hilton Brighton Metropole, the strip, extending to 0.2-acres, had been expected to spark keen interest, especially from local residents.

Comprising mature conifers, the land forms part of an embankment of a private road.

However, a spokesman for the auctioneers said it is currently back on the market, although it could sell post-auction.

Sam Kinloch, senior auction valuer, said: "We anticipated keen interest, especially from local residents, but this did not materialise.”

He added: “Sometimes buyers step forward afterwards. We shall see."

The next of Clive Emson's eight regional sales this year will take place at The Hilton Brighton Metropole, Brighton, on Friday, June 13, starting at 11am.

Clive Emson , a property and land auctioneer to estate agents, commercial property agents, statutory bodies and private clients, has a reach across southern England, from Kent to Cornwall, and is one of the top four auctioneers in the UK by way of value and volume of residential sales, and sixth over-all.
