Fun runners are being invited to take to their heels again in Reigate's Priory Park this Sunday (May 4).

For Eastenders’ star and fun run stalwart Shane Richie will again be joining runners and supporters for the 15th annual Reigate and Redhill YMCA Fun Run.

The first race is due to start at 10.30am, and all competitors who cross the finish line will receive a medal and T-shirt.

Shane, who will be starting some of the races and chatting to those taking part, said: “It’s always a wonderful event.

“The kids absolutely love it and there is always a fantastic atmosphere. Come along and join in!”

More than 1,500 adults and children are expected to take part by completing the five-mile or one-mile routes, which will start and finish in Priory Park.

All routes will be fully marshalled and refreshments will be free to all runners.

There are prizes in each race for the best fancy dress costume.

There will also be entertainment available throughout the day, with stalls and stands including face-painting for children, cakes and a barbecue.

Held in conjunction with Reigate and Banstead’s Festival of Sport, in which a number of local clubs will be holding demonstrations and showcasing their sports for people to try out, the YMCA Fun Run will be encouraging people to get fit while raising funds for local disadvantaged children and young people.
