World War One experts will be visiting Redhill in October for two events marking the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War.

The Harlequin Theatre will play host to an illustrated lecture on the conflict by expert Andy Thompson on Wednesday, October 8.

Entitled 'Over By Christmas,' the lecture will focus on the outbreak of the war and how the only thought was to get to the front before it was all over.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance at the Harlequin box office on 01737 276500.

And on Saturday, October 11, the theatre will host the World War One Roadshow (Show and Tell) from 1pm.

Ian Chatfield, the curator of Surrey Infantry Museum, and other experts will be on hand to provide background information on any artefacts brought in. There will also be a disk to enable people to research their own family war dead. Website: www.harlequintheatre.co.uk
