The young soccer aces of Reigate's Sandcross School have won the 2014 Redhill and Reigate Annual District Football Tournament.

The school side qualified for the tournament having only conceded one goal in four games in the competition's league stage.

They took on Wray Common School in a hard-fought semi-final, which had to go to a penalty shoot-out to be decided.

And it looked like another penalty shoot-out would be needed in the tournament final which saw them pitted against Reigate Priory, until Adam Adam stepped up with a free kick in the last minute of extra time to secure the trophy for Sandcross.

Coaches Steve Leach and Richard Bates said: "We could not be prouder of our team.

"The effort and commitment displayed by the children was outstanding. They thoroughly deserved their win.”

The victorious side comprised Josh Young, Ben Ruth, Addison Hudson, Finley Lenihan, Joe Archer, Thomas Abell, Adam Adam, Zach Chant and Oliver Mooney.
