Reigate author Jackie Buckle has just gone into print with an intriguingly titled book aimed at teenagers and set in the internet world of social media.

Half My Facebook Friends Are Ferrets has been published by Curious Fox Books.

Nodding towards Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole best-sellers, Jackie's book is aimed at girls and boys aged 12 to 16.

These days, the boys' age group is an unusual area of the market to target, as modern social trends suggest that these years are when young teenage boys are more likely to stop reading books.

Jackie though is an expert on social media - hence Facebook featuring in her book – and injects a lot of humour into her work to appeal to the teenage market.

As well as reflecting lessons to be learned from social media, including how to stay safe and how it can be a very positive thing in a teenager's life, Half My Facebook Friends Are Ferrets has also moved into another media in a surprising and innovative marketing move – music.

The publishers have commissioned a local student, Jack Cape, to produce a piece of music inspired by the book, to use for its national marketing campaign. Jack penned a heavy-metal-style track called Like A Mockingbird, taking its lyrics from Jackie's book.
