Radio Redhill, the hospital radio station serving the patients and staff of the East Surrey Hospital, has been announced as a finalist in three categories of the 2014 national Hospital Radio Awards.
The station, run from the hospital, is in the running for a gold, silver or bronze award in any of the three categories at the annual awards presentation, which will take place in Bristol at the end of March.
The three categories in which Radio Redhill is a finalist are the Speech Package category, for its report on the Bluebell Railway line in East Sussex re-opening to East Grinstead, the Special Event category, for its programme about the 2013 South of England Show at Ardingly, and the Station of the Year category, which is the awards' major title.
Last year, Radio Redhill took silver in the national awards' Station of the Year category.
That took the total number of national radio awards won by Radio Redhill since 1997 to 45. The station broadcasts online, on 1431AM and on the hospital headsets 24 hours a day.
