One of the oldest golf societies in Surrey is on a drive to increase its membership.

Horley and District Golf Society (H&DGS), formerly Horley and District Constitutional Club Golf Society and formed in the mid-1980s, is seeking new members.

The society was run with Horley and District Constitutional Club as its base. In the year 2000, the society split and Horley 2000 GS was formed, and is now full.

Two years ago, H&DGS lifted its restrictions regarding members having to join the constitutional club in Horley, and is now in a position to increase its membership.

Andy Ford of H&DGS said: “As a local society we try and support local charities and play the local courses within the area.”

He said: “We meet once a month - usually Wednesday - and have eight to nine competitions a year, starting in March to April.”
