Surrey Police's head of finance has been reinstated after winning his appeal against his dismissal from the Force.

Paul Bundy is back in his post after the appeal panel agreed a final written warning was a more fitting sanction in the case.

It was in November that a misconduct board was held in respect of allegations of failure to disclose a change in personal circumstances and mishandling of internal information.

At the request of Surrey Police, the panel was external and independent from the Force. The allegations were found to be proven against Mr Bundy and he was sanctioned to dismissal for gross misconduct subject to an appeal. A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: “On Thursday, December 19, an external and independent appeal hearing was held to review this decision. “The appeal panel agreed the allegations had been proven but found a final written warning was a more proportionate sanction in this case. “Mr Bundy has therefore been re-instated to his role as head of finance.”

She added the misconduct did not relate directly to the financial responsibilities of the head of finance role.
