TV antiques experts due in Horley for fundraising valuation day
3:30pm Thursday 3rd October 2013 in Local News
East Surrey homeowners are being encouraged to root through their attics to find forgotten treasures for an annual fundraising Antique Valuation Day.
The Horley Lions Antique Valuation Day is now in its 50th year and is estimated to have raised the equivalent of more than £750,000 for local charities.
This year's event at the St John Hall in Central Car Park, Victoria Road, will take place on Sunday, October 27, and run from 10.30am to 4pm.
TV auctioneer Catherine Southon and her colleague Mark Stacey will be available to give their expert opinions and advice on antique and collectible items.
The pair have often appeared on the TV programmes “Flog It” and “Bargain Hunt,” surprising some lucky owners by valuing hidden treasures which up until then had just collected dust in the attic.
Now, teaming up with Horley Lions, they are hoping to do the same for local residents.
The event entry fee will be £5 per person, but will cover a maximum of five items for valuation.
All profits will go to charity. The day is expected to be busy and owners are advised to arrive early. Refreshments will be available. For more information call 0776 688 7236, or visit the Horley Lions website at: www.horleylions.org.uk
