Priors Mead Retirement Home in Reigate will be hosting a series of events on Tuesday, October 1, celebrating 'Older People's Day.'
The family-run home in Blanford Road, which is home to 17 elderly people, will be welcoming visitors from local businesses and community groups to provide a range of activities and entertainment for its residents throughout the day.
These will include chair-based yoga, arts and craft sessions, a magician, musical entertainment and a guest performance by a local ballet school. Joanna Nykiel, Priors Mead's manager, said: "Our philosophy is extremely positive regarding ageing.
“We believe that every phase of life is to be enjoyed. Our residents have led incredibly full and varied lives and we want to continue to offer them that richness in their day-to-day life at Priors Mead.”
She said: “Older People's Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our senior citizens. “The whole day will be like Christmas Day with lots of fun. We're very excited and delighted that the local community is involved."
UK Older People’s Day is being held in celebration of the huge contribution that older people make to our society, with numerous organisations working together to coordinate a national programme of activities and events on, or around, October 1.
