Appeal after man is found with head injuries in Reigate

Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for information after a man suffered head injuries in Reigate.
The man was found injured on the service road at the Morrisons supermarket in Bell Street in the town centre. Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service were called and they took the man to St George's Hospital in Tooting, where he was said to be in a stable condition. A Surrey Police spokesman said his injuries were not life-changing or life-threatening. The man was found injured at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, August 21.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Simon Evans, said: “We are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident and how the man came to receive the injuries he sustained.”
Det Con Evans said: “We need to establish if any offences have occurred, and therefore, I would appeal to anyone who was in this area around the time of the incident to contact us with information, as it could prove vital to our investigation.” The spokesman said a man aged in his 40s from Merstham was in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of assault. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference RB/13/6905.
